On the bottom right corner this is a little notch. Use a penny, flat head screwdriver or the poking tool from an older phone to stick it in there and twist a bit and the back with come off. The screwdriver may cause the edge to be a little rough after but doesn't really affect the phone.

Pinch your thumbs together knuckle-to-knuckle and wedge the thumbnail tips into the slot in the lower right-hand corner (you may need another set of hands to hold the phone while you do this). Once you hear the first subtle "click" sound of the cover opening, then work your way around each side, again with your thumbnail, to the case's upper left-hand corner. That's what worked for me. I also had a guitar pick to use for working around each side as my thumbnails wore down. A guitar pick is handy too, but not required. I got the case opening started with only my thumbnails, and no marring, nicking, or deforming the case.

Be very careful not to scratch the phone. The crevice is where the screen and the lower part of the cell meets. Good luck!
