• You can choose many different sounds for notifications so just choose one that is very soft or tiny

• You have to turn the ring volume down. It does not have one just for notifications. I have to do this everyday at work.

• After almost a full day of messing with the phone settings I found that the notification volume is controlled with the general phone ringer volume. Unfortunately there is not a separate volume control for any of the notifications including text messages. That would have been ideal. Hope this helps.
