The Bobi works best on bare surfaces. Ours constantly gets hung up on our rugs which don't even have tassels. Yes, it will push/smear cat poop and vomit. Bobi is more of a maintenance vacuum cleaner and won't suck up large quantities, so if you have a pile of cat food I would use a traditional vacuum. The Bobi is great for getting underneath certain furniture, though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will get caught up in anything loose. We had to tie up all dangling cords due to the fact that they got wrapped up in the machine. If the fringe is super short, it should be fine. However, longer than 1/4 inch, I would move or change the rug. It will pick up dry food and will most likely tear up the paper and take in as much as it can. Cat poop...well, it will be spread all over the place. Honestly, with all of the robotic vacuums, you will need to do a quick pick up of all items on the floor. They do a great job but you will have to clear the path for them. Thet are not that smart yet in that regards. Hope this helps.
