The Bolt can be used EITHER with OTA or through a cablecard provided by the cable company but not both. Thus a cable user today can be an OTA user down the road. NOTE: The new Bolt + model released on 9/16/2016 has 6 tuners and 3 TB of storage but does not have the OTA capability that the Bolt has.

Downside is it can't be used with cable if you ever care about that (I don't), and the Bolt would handle "apps" better, but I'd just use a separate box for that regardless, as I don't want to wear out my Tivo doing that.

It took a little getting used to, but I love having DVR capabilities for our favorite broadcast shows. We already had an Amazon Fire TV and AppleTV so I really didn't need another device for Netflix and Amazon Prime, but it's there if you want/need it.
