Had the following set-up: basic cable, antenna-DVR, Roku with Amazon Prime, Netflix, HBO Now, Hulu with Showtime, & DVD player. My wife was extremely irate about so many remote controls (had another one just for the TV), so I bought a TiVO Bolt. There were some beginning problems - it takes about 30 minutes on the phone with your cable provider’s tech dept., after you trade in your cable box for a different one. The TiVO remote was malfunctioning, BestBuy wouldn’t replace the remote only, so I had to call TiVO before I disconnected the whole set-up to return it. TiVO mailed me a new remote. While I was waiting for it to arrive, the Bolt came disconnected from its power source during the cable box switch. Reconnected it & the remote worked fine. Had to d/c the HBO Now service & get it thru Amazon Prime. We’ve had the Bolt connected for over a month now & we both love it. The remote for the Bolt controls everything but the DVD player, but we haven’t watched a DVD in months, so that’s ok. Our previous DVR would only worked with the antenna, and reception was spotty and channels limited. Now we can record any channel we get on cable, without a monthly DVR payment to the cable company. The Roku had a lot more apps/channels than the Bolt does, but most of the missing ones we never watched anyway. The Bolt remote controls the everyday functions of the TV (channels, volume, power) so that remote is in a drawer. I am SO glad we made this change & got the Bolt. It’s so much better than what we were using.

The Tivo bolt definitely is a better alternative to most dvrs provided by the cable company. 4 tuners, lots of storage, and one button commercial skipping are huge positives. It’s also incredibly small! However, the UI is lacking some of the polish and consistency I would expect. These are things that can improve over time.

TiVo is great, you can do so many more amazing things with this device then anything your cable company could offer. It has been amazing to store our shows and replay on demand with the ability to skip commercials! The only thing I could have to say that is negative about this device is the subscription service.

We've had the bolt about a month now and couldn't be happier. From the streamlined shape to the functions, it is so much better than a cable provider's DVR. Easier to use and more reliable, love the commercial skip feature and of course pause and rewind live TV. App for watching on the go is also a nice upgrade.

Kick out your cable box. TIVO is way better hands down. And I saved money every month. I got rid of 3 cable boxes and my bill wen down $52 per month. I did have to buy the TIVO Bolt and two mini's but in 12 months it will be money in the bank. The service is way better and I love the remote. It has RF mode so I don't have to have it pointed exactly at the box. Kick cable boxes and get your TIVO

This was very easy to set up, Follow the instructions for the connections, turn it on and let it find your channel guide and online apps. The recorder is much easier than the Direct TV, and the commercial skip is fantastic. Record 4 programs at the same time, so never miss your favorite shows.

Someone in the family had installed TIVO and I was impressed by the skip feature that by passes the commercials. Although not available for every show, it seems to be available for most shows I record. Installation is relatively easy, but you do need an wired ethernet connection to your home router as well as a cable connection. You need to get a cable card for the TIVO and a tuning adapter from the cable company (Cox in my case). The cable company store did not set up the tuning adapter properly and I had 3 different calls with customer support - you need to ask for the cable card specialists. Even then, first person I got was great but we need time for the system to load (could be more than an hour) so I could not stay on the line. It did not complete the first time...second contact was not helpful. I called back later in the day and got someone who really knew their stuff. Worth the investment in time. Extremely flexible recording and you can call up recorded shows remotely from an iPad.

I used to have a Tivo series 2 box back in 2004, and I love their user interface. I purchased both the Tivo Bolt and the Tivo mini so that I could get a whole home setup in my house. Setup was easy, you just need to make sure you have a wired (Cat5) or above ethernet cable available so you can setup the whole home environment. The only thing that doesn't work with my cable provider (Spectrum) and the Tivo bolt is the on demand channels. You will need rent a box from the cable company in order to receive those channels. Would be nice if Tivo could add that functionality. The thing I miss most about switching from Directv to the Cable/Tivo setup is the "Favorites" channels. With the directv remote they had a button where you could set about 6 favorite channels for easy access. Tivo has a filter you can set on the guide for favorites, but it takes many clicks to get this view setup.

This is my second purchase, I bought my first one about a year ago this one is for my son. When I bought my first one I wanted to get rid of cable/satellite. I had DirecTV which I loved but I didn’t love the price so I wanted to cut the cord but I rely heavily on recording my shows. The Best Buy member recommended this item. He said I could use it on antenna and record my shows. What he didn’t mention was that I can add my passwords to Hulu, Netflix and Amazon prime. When I add shows to a one pass list to record it will also tell me if that show is available in and in which app and how much it is to either rent or buy in every app Whether or not It is on an antenna TV channel and I can still stream it. I have now use that search or one pass to check and see if movies or shows are available on the specific app instead of checking all of the apps to see if it’s there or to find out which way is the cheapest to rent or buy the show. This particular model cost 150 a one time annual charge to use the specific models features. But, when you figure 150 year versus 142×12 year I’ve saved a lot. I stopped to pay for Hulu prime and I stopped to pay for Hulu prime and Netflix, But, I was doing that anyway and I was only watching one or two shows that I could not get on antenna and I have always seem to find a way to stream it. The only thing this box does not do is let me have, or add my passwords for other streaming things like the network apps or Crunchyroll ( my sons) Or my biggie Apple TV so that I could find any movie or compare any movie or show across all devices to search for a movie or its price Or my biggie Apple TV so that I could find any movie or compare any movie or show across all devices to search for movie And or Compare their price.

I upgraded to the TiVo Bolt from an Xfinity 1 DVR. The Bolt is super easy to use and program and has a wealth of features. I love the Skip mode (works better than the Dish Hopper). The TiVo suggests feature is a nice touch. I use it all the time to find programs that are interesting to me, after I've watch all my regular recordings. The interface for this feature could use some spiffing up to make it easier to dejected multiple recordings and delete them all at once. I have an Apple TV which I use for the TVOS apps. Howeve, I find that I use the TiVo apps more since they are right there on the device. All in all, it's a great device. The monthly fee is a bit of a nuisance but is tolerable. I highly recommend the TiVo Bolt. Can't wait to upgrade my TV to 4K!

The new 1TB BOLT is so much better than my old series 2's. It transfers to my desktop faster, Downloads faster, Has 4 tuners, better video, When using season pass (now called onepass) it is much faster. Smaller footprint with less heat, And is also controlled by a smart phone, apple or tablet. I can watch shows, save to my phone, add new recordings, delete shows, via phone/tablet free app. It also has a skip feature that can bypass all commercials (this is on some shows).I will replace my old TIVO with another BOLT. Best Buy had the same deal as TIVO.

I left TiVo for the fios dvr about 8 years ago. What a mistake in hindsight. After paying over $400 a year for their 'dvr' that resets and hangs frequently, I'd had it. The Bolt is awesome. Recording space is excellent and it's very intuitive. Now I enjoy real home dvr functionality and I own the equipment. Soon I'll be cutting the cord. Btw. Make sure you have the line filter and appropriate splitter if you're using coax.

Great replacement for outdated cable equipment

My cable provider uses extremely outdated equipment with poor performance and no modern convenience features. I have limited options for providers in my area so decided to do the Tivo. I now have features that compete with the big name brand providers (at significantly cheaper prices!) and overall much better experience. Only cons were not clear enough indications that a subscription to Tivo service (separate from your tv provider) is required. It is fairly inexpensive and worth it but still was kind of annoyed to discover after I had already purchased the item. Also the set up was extremely difficult though more likely due to my service provider than Tivo. It would have helped if Tivo gave a better indication of what was wrong however.

TiVo is Back and Better than Ever with Bolt!

Words cannot describe how much i love my TiVo Bolt. It does exactly what i need it to do, when i need it to do it. Paired this with 2 TiVo Mini's and now I no longer need any of my Fire Sticks, Fire TV's, or ChromeCasts to use streaming services. TiVo has Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, Plex, and Amazon Streaming Services built in, and they work flawlessly. Oh, and did I mention 4K? DVR Season passes work great. Menu's are snappy and there is no lag at all with the Guide. Setup is super easy. If you are contemplating on weather or not to get one, stop. There is definitely a start up cost, but I would much rather pay money to OWN something rather then rent it from the Cable Company. All you need is one cable card (Verizon's is $5/Mo) and you can have as many TV's connected as you want. TiVo's service is $15 a month, but it's worth it. My cable bill dropped $55 a month, just in box fees. If you add in TiVo's service fee, I am saving $40 a month on my cable bill. The start-up cost will have paid for itself in about a year, just from the money I am saving on my cable bill. If you add in the fact that you can finance this at 0% for 18 months, it is a no-brainer. TiVo is the real deal. Don't even hesitate.

Incredible Upgrade to a Great System

The TiVo BOLT is an incredible upgrade from the Roamio series. It incorporates the ability to use either an antenna or cable. As we decided to ditch the cable, this was a great option. The footprint is half of the old machines. The speed at which it works is very fast, and incorporated into our home with TiVo Minis seamlessly. The only drawbacks I see to the machine is the need for HDMI inputs (for Disc player or video games or other settop boxes like Roku or Kodi)) and more streaming support. We use a Roku in conjunction with the TiVo, and we now have zero need for cable. I have been a TiVo user since1999, and would not consider another system. If you are stuck with cable, this device works great, despite the hype the cable company will give you. It is far superior to anything else out there!

Now all my HD antenna programs come in 1080p. The cable box was at best 1080i, most 720 and 480. The recorder works Great. The commercial skip Is so much better than cable companies. Love the QuickMode technology that lets you speed through slow-moving shows 30% faster. like football games and Races. With a streaming service (like Amazon prime) this makes a Great way to Cut the Cable and Save Money.

Our Roamio died after several years of great service and we obviously couldn't be without a TiVo for more than 4 hours. Best Buy price matched an outrageously good deal from an online retailer, so awesome props to them for that. The good: 1 TB drive is great; during football season, we records lots of games which in addition to the other stuff we record is a good amount of space. The controls are basically the same as the Roamio, but noticeably faster responses. Apps are good - HBO, Amazon, Vudu, and Netflix are the only ones we regularly use, but no issues or glitchy-ness there. The bad: No UHD / 4k support for Vudu or Netflix streaming. Thats ridiculous on a new release streaming device. Rokus have it. How can TiVo not? I'd buy again, but irritated that it doesn't have 4k streaming.

Basically it is the supercharged version of our 5 year old TiVo - which died from a failed storage drive. The second time a TiVo left us after five years of use. Must be the planned obsolescence on the product manufactures part. We are relatively happy with the purchase, All of the features we have grown accustom too are there with the same (or similar) menu options.. Our only slight negative observation is that there is a lag when using the library and accessing our saved selections. Modifying the recorded specifications does not react quickly (or sometimes at all) and then we select again it double moves. Sometimes it is frustrating. We have learned to wait a good 3 to 5 seconds after making a modification selection to let TiVo compute the direction we have given it.
