• No. The lifetime subscription is $550. It's $14.99 a month, $150 a year, or $550 for life, paying for itself in less than 4 years. It's worth it.

• You can pay monthly, yearly or a one time payment for life time membership. You do need to check because the lifetime membership might only apply to the one unit you purchase it for.

• No, but if you have cable you can rent a cable card from cable company for about $2 a month. I pay yearly subscription of $150. Your cable provider may advertise “free had” but that does not include the rental of an hd box with dvr. This is not only cheaper, but if you ever use TiVo, you’ll be hooked for life. The guide and flexibility surpasses everything else.
