This is correct, it will eliminate the need to rent the xfinity DVR. However instead of renting the xfinity DVR you will need to get a Cable card from xfinity. They may charge you a small monthly fee for that (call them to find out the cost). You will also need to either pay monthly for TiVo, Annually, or the Lifetime membership. All this is outlined on their website. In order to figure out if it's cheaper you would have to see what the monthly cost of renting xfinity equipment, then figure out if the monthly cost of the TiVo box, and the cable card is less expensive. It's generally more cost effective when you have multiple Cable boxes.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So you know I have Direct TV and Direct TV supplied me with a TiVo. When I opened my account with Direct tv it came with TiVo. That box died and I told them I could cancel my account if they no long have TiVo They came with a new TiVo box and I have had it since. My direct bill runs me $125 a month. No special channels but no monthly fee for TiVo either ....TiVo is included in my bill of $125 a month I live in NJ plus no regular cable box either.
