There are over the air DVRs out there with no subscription costs. I just purchased a tivo roamio for $359.00 on sale, and here's why: The other options (channel master, tablo) were $300 once you added in the required hard drive for storage. The menus, guide, storage capacity, number of tuners, everything about the tivo is superior. And the roamio cost includes a lifetime subscription to the service. So, for around $60 more (on sale, best buy matches online retailers) you get the real McCoy. You're going to have this thing for a while, don't cheap out and get something inferior!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A Tablo DVR will record OTA. My model will record 4 channels at once, broadcast to 6 devices via wireless. It will not record live TV from other sources than antenna. There is a $5 MO charge for enhanced guide. If you only watch one TV, I think there are numerous options without any charge.

This product allows you to stream, record, pause, OTA (Over The Air) Channels Via your existing network via Wired or WIFI. There are different models that have 2-4 Tuner cards which gives you the flexibility for 2-4 users to watch different channels, record 2-4 channels at once, or the ability to watch and record different channels at the same time. Their is also a model that is for Cable Users that uses your Cable Provider's cable card so you don't have to rent their box tops ever again.

While I do not work for Tivo and do not have this device, I understand it is designed for consumers like you. There is no additional monthly cost if you purchase it with the lifetime; I'm not sure if Tivo has an alternative month-by-month or year-by-year option for the OTA device (I suspect yes).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had the Channel Master DVR+ for 3 or 4 years and it is great at just OTR. Records two channels at a time but no Apps for online stuff. Does 1080 great. I still love it. I have not had a chance to see if it records 4k from OTA. Just haven't seen the opportunity in my market. No monthly fees and the guide is automatically downloaded for your zipcode with no effort on your part. My wife bought me the new Channel Master DVD they call Stream+ and it sucks big time. A waste of money. I am happy with my DVR+ recording over the air and my top of the line Roku stick bringing me 4k Apps and more. I just use separate HDMI inputs and switch back and forth that way. And, I also have Playon which will record nearly anything via the internet on your PC HD which you can then cast to your TV. It only does 1080 even though I have a 4k TV. Playon is just not 4k ready as far as I can tell. The DVR+ is off the market now so you may have to get one used via Ebay though. Some came with a 1 GB HD and some did not. It will accept an external HD up to about 2 to 2.5 GB's.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just to clarify. The Tivo Roamio includes lifetime service for that DEVICE, not the service itself. So if the device fails, the lifetime service is NOT transferred to a new device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The TiVo Romeo is what you need. But it cost at least $500 and comes with a built-in lifetime antenna. I have one and love it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Look into Channel Master...they have a device that is OTA and DVR, you need to connect a thumb drive or external drive to use rewind and pause. https://www.channelmaster.com/OTA_DVR_s/336.htm
