• You have to use a subscription in order to update the guide, therefore it’s almost necessary in order to have scheduled recordings.

• Yes you have to subscribe and activate this through TiVo for it to work. The OTA model is a lower monthly fee than the cable TiVo. Just so you are aware.

• You have to purchase the tivo subscription for it to work. There is an option to purchase a lifetime of the device or monthly. Our last tivo lasted 5 years before it stopped working and we upgraded to this one.
