You can go here: https://explore.tivo.com/how-to.html and scroll to the bottom and they have some specific information there. Honestly though, if you go through the guided setup, it will walk you through everything. You just have to answer the questions as they come up. If you have cable but don't have a cable card yet, you can connect your cable to the device and tell it you will set up a card later so it will download everything for you. You'll need to know if you are Over The Air, Cable or both. You'll need to know your WiFi network and password, or connect it via Ethernet. The rest is pretty straight forward.
