Hello Boobe: After purchasing the ZTE you will need to go to Boostmobile.com and set up an account, then purchase a plan (choice of 2) 1.5 G for $25. / or 10 G for $50. Each plan lasts for 1 month / or until you run out of Gigs. Then you need to "activate" the ZTE device on website. Your speed does not slow down. It will shut down after you have used up all your Gig. Then just reload. You can change plans anytime ! My device works great ! Don't know about NC.
