I own this dishwasher and the controls are at the top and not on the outside. It does dry items with or without drying liquids but I recommend using the drying agents. If you don't use them the glassware and flatware will be spotty as the machine dries using condensation and not actual heating elements.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I also own this model, and the controls are on top. However, drying agent is at your discretion. You can change internal settings with this one. Out of the box drying agent default was high. I change to medium and changed internal drying default to high. This increases water temperature in rinse to dry better. This setting also means I refill drying agent every 3-4 months. If you decide to use the "extra dry" button on the top panel, even plastic comes out bone dry.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hanover 8, My series 100 SHXM4AY5*N has top controls. A red light shines on the floor as soon as you put the machine on. When the machine is finished the light goes off. Drying liquids are ALWAYS recommended.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is a brand new model from Bosch. It is top control
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use the sanitize cycle with mine and it dries the dishes fairly well. If you use a different drying selection though, they do recommend a rinse agent.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This dishwasher does not dry the dishes at all. Even if you use the drying liquid. This is the worst dishwasher ever. I do not recommend it
