  • QuestionCan these speakers be used with a laptop

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi, thanks for your question! Since the Bose 161 speakers are not powered, they require a stereo receiver (or amplifier) and cannot be connected directly to a laptop computer. The speakers are designed to be connected to a receiver with a rating between 10-100 Watts Per Channel, 4-8 Ohms. It is possible, however, to play audio from the laptop through the speakers with a compatible receiver.

  • QuestionAre there speakers I can purchase to connect to Bose wave/radio?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi! Thanks for the question. The current versions of the Bose Wave Radio and Bose Wave Music System both feature a headphone jack. This is the only output connection available. It would be possible to connect an auxiliary set of powered speakers into this headphone jack; however, doing so will mute the speakers on the Bose system. Be advised that the headphone jack on the Bose has a variable output, which means that you will need to adjust the volume using the remote from the Bose system itself.

  • QuestionIf I was to hook up the speakers to my iMac, how would I?I plan on just using the speakers for music. If they are not recommend for music what product should I use?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer It isn't that they aren't designed for music, the deal breaker here is that they do not have a 3.5mm connector. You'll need to run speaker wire from these to your output source. As far as I know, no one makes 3.5mm connectors that adapt well to standard speaker wire.

  • QuestionI just purchased a Bose 161 Speaker set. Brackets are included but no bolts for mounting speakers to brackets and no locking bolts. Are these supposed to be included? If not, can you tell me the size and threads needed to match the threaded sockets?

    Asked by boltless.

    • Answer I RECIEVED GOLD BOLTS TO BOLT THE speakers to the mounting bracket front part that comes off the back part of the bracket. The silver screws are to mount the bracket to the wall & long silver screw is to mount the front part of the bracket to the back part of the bracket after you screw the back part of the bracket to the wall.
