The correct answer depends on the TV. All speakers require some type of amplifier to drive them. Bose 201 speakers require an external amplifier because they have no internal amplifier. You can connect Bose 201 speakers directly to your TV if your TV has speaker-level outputs from its internal amplifier. I haven't seen a TV with speaker-level outputs in a long time. The simplest generalized answer is: you probably can't connect Bose 201 speakers directly to your TV.
