Have you tried using the 3.5mm cable port? This would plug into the "line-in" port on the right side of the Companion 5 control pod/volume from the 3.5mm jack on the tv. That would only take a cable long enough to go between the devices. This is also the same cable that you would use to play Apple devices, etc. in addition, you should be able to set the volume level on the Companion 5, and still be able to utilize the volume on the device. Always remember that the light on the Control Pod is: Red: Off, Amber: Muted, tap to change to green, and Green: Go. I include that due to my own frustration at the time of purchase, and realizing that it was a good thing to check... I hope that this information is helpful!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We strongly recommend using the Companion 5 system with a computer via USB. While it cannot connect to a TV by USB, it does also feature an AUX port on the control pod. Connecting a 3.5mm auxiliary cable from the TV’s headphone output into the AUX connection on the control pod will route sound from the TV to the Companion 5 speakers instead. If you are looking for a similar style system that is intended for use with a TV and other home theater equipment we would suggest you consider our Cinemate GSII, Thanks!
