“Do the ear pieces retract into the larger unit? I've seen numerous similar styled devices (not from Bose, of course) that do this, and haven't seen anything that says if these do or do not do that as well. Thanks!”

No, they don't retract. The one's i've seen to be retractable also have a very thin, almost hair-like wire, that looks easy to break.

No they do not retract inside. The case that comes with it is round and they just lay inside the case .

No they do not retract into the main unit. They dangle around your collar bone area. I don't think it's a big deal and for me it's not really something I notice.
