Hello, thank you for taking the time to ask a question about our QC30 headphones! The wire for this headset is not retractable. and is at a fixed length from the neck-piece. We would recommend adjusting this neck piece to a height you're happy with if you feel there is too much or too little slack on the wire. We hope this helps!

No but not too long when neck band around, Bose seemed to research the length that would suit most people without interference. Hope this helps!
