The soundbar with the subwoofer gives plenty of great sound; however, the rear surround speakers definitely enhances the quality of sound. Just picture being in a movie theater, but in your own home. Nonetheless, the subwoofer alone will provide that bass, that heartbeat. And those rear speakers... that will breathe more life into the sound.
