You don't need to - if you have connected the DVD player to your TV and are playing the DVD player through your TV then the TV audio output that you connect to the Bose will receive the passed-through sound from the DVD player. You can hook up the DVD player directly to the Bose if you are not going to use the TV, e.g.,to play music CD's.

MOST TVs will have a Digital Optical Out port than you can configure to output all sound from the TV speakers (from any active input) to the soundbar. All that would be required is a single Digital Optical Toslink cable.
