A:Answer The soundbar has a rich sound that will certainly be an improvement over standard TV speakers. I bought one of these as a Christmas gift for my parents and they love it. They do not want/need a soundbar with a subwoofer or lots of bass, I actually had to turn down the bass on this and the sound is very clear. The dialogue mode the soundbar is what they typically use for watching TV as it amplifies the voices so they're easier to hear. When this is turned off you will get a more rich sound and can hear the a full range of sound including the bass much better. For the price paid and considering it is one soundbar with no surround or subwoofer, it is an impressive system. It is an impressive little speaker! So much so, I am considering purchasing another for my bedroom, I like it so much. I programmed their cable box's remote to power on off the TV, Cable and soundbar. I couldn't get a code to work for the cable box using the Bose speaker, but I suspect I could resolve that with a cal into Bose Tech Support.
By contrast, I also purchased a Soundtouch 300. They're night and day difference in price and performance as the Soundtouch 300 sounds even better. It fills the room much better than the Solo 5 but it should considering the price difference. If you don't need anything but a bar and don't want to add anything else as in surround speakers, the Solo 5 is an excellent choice.
