“Why does the speaker come with a charging cradle when you can just plug the mini usb cord directly into the speaker...Also, if the battery dies can the speaker still be used for computer sound if it's connected to a powered usb connection of a computer?”

Hello IronicMan, the SoundLink Mini II includes a charging cradle for convenience. I love it for the simple fact that I am no longer retrieving my power cable from behind furniture. Our Mini II is engineered with an auxiliary input for connection to additional devices, the USB cable is utilized for charging only.
