Yes it is outlet power only. Bose does sell a portable Bluetooth speaker with integrated rechargeable battery

Yes, it had to be plugged in. If you want to add to the system try one of the wireless products that can be paired with this one

Yes, the speaker needs to be connected to the power plug all the time because it does not have a battery.
