Hello, thank you for reaching out to confirm. To clarify, our SoundTouch 300 soundbar does not require connection to an amplifier for power. Connecting passive speakers to the SoundTouch SA-5 amplifier will make them SoundTouch enabled. This will allow you to stream the same wireless music, through both your SoundTouch 300 soundbar and the speakers that are wired to the SA-5 Amplifier, at the same time. We hope this helps!
