“Is anyone else having trouble with the auto dimming feature? I have an older car with auto headlights and when the lights turn on the head unit flashes between day and night settings. Checked connection 4 times and also tried in another car.”

It sounds like the original light wires were wired to your lights. I have a head unit from boss audio and the original unit wiring was connected to the dash lighting. When I turn the dash light all the way up it flashes between night and day on the display. That makes me assume your lights may be getting a full signal tripping this day night switch.
