- Answer Hi Most woofers have only one voice coil . the voice coil is the electro magnet non fixed part of your speaker . most speakers have a voice coil except for piezos and tey are only tweaters . some woofers have 2 voice coils . this is for 2 reasons . one being some amplifiers (old ones ) are not bridgeble Meaning you cant make a 2 channel amp A one channel amp with some wiring tricks . so in the old days if we only had room for one woofer i would get a dual voice coil woofer 4 ohms and make shure i had it phased right and basicallu doubled the output of the simgle woofer by doubling he input powet . the other reason is if you have a dual voice coil speaker of 2 4 ohm coils or you can have a 2 4 or 8 ohm speaker . by wireing . If I needed just an 4 ohm speaker I would not use a dual voive coil speaker and use just one of the coils due to the extra weight of the unused coil . so try to buy the right ohm load speaker for the job .
QuestionWe all know it's rated too high...300w...really? Seriously, what can this thing take? 50w RMS, 100w RMS, 150w RMS? Anyone know? I'm just looking for something cheap and want to throw about 150w at it.
- Answer Ya it's nothing special in those speakers but they can handle 150 watt without any problem so far they are new so they working good but I can't say anything what happens down the road later on
