Initially, I hook this up to an old Yamaha Stereo Receiver 200 watts (100 watts per channel) . Sounds good but I cannot turn the volume too high on the Receiver, loud enough for small to medium size rooms. If you connect to your Yamaha just start at very low volume level then up just enough it can handle.

Plenty of power I am using a Denon 3300W (105 watts per channel) and it performs well. I haven't used a Yamaha amp for a number of years but the amp should be warm and not bright.
