Yes, you can pair with an earlier model or the same model, but they must be in separate rooms to work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Both the current Zeppelin and the previous generation (Zeppelin Wireless) use Apple Airplay Technology. However, the current Zeppelin uses Airplay 2 and older Zeppelin Wireless uses the original Airplay. While Airplay 2 is compatible with Airplay, the opposite is not true. Only Airplay 2 supports multi-room, which allows you to send music to multiple Airplay 2 devices at the same time. This was not a feature of Apple's original Airplay technology. So the answer is that you can use two current Zeppelin as multi-room devices using Airplay 2 (or the Formation technology built into current Zeppelin) but you cannot use an older Zeppelin Wireless and new Zeppelin in a multi-room configuration.
