• Yes to both. You must place the plate at the very bottom of the phone to avoid covering the charge circuit

• With the provided metal plates, yes it can hold any phone and it works pretty good actually and yes you can charge your phone while mounted. The metal plates do interfere with wireless charging though.

• This should hold any phone. You have to put a slim magnet on the back of the phone to hold it in place. I have a cover over my S8 so you don't see the magnet and the charge cable plugs into the bottom of the phone to charge it while it is in the cradle. Very nice holder, works well.
