Its has to be very fine grind in order for the gauge to move up and if the gauge doesn't move that's mean the coffee grind is too coarse and I hope that's will help

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello, Thank you for reaching out The gauge is really there just as a reference. It doesn’t control pressure at all. Please make sure you use a fine grind, like Illy, powder is spread evenly to sides of filter, and tamped well but not too much. If the needle moves, the gauge is working, and it’s all about the process to get it in the right position. Thank You BRIM Customer Service
