Yes, the lower tray can handle 11x17. Paper handling in general, both printing and scanning, is where this printer really shines, in my opinion. The print quality and speed is fine for my needs. Not astounding by any stretch, but good. I bought it for its flexibility in printing and scanning, and it has not disappointed.
