Is the duplex printing automatic or manual? null

The duplex printing would be a setting that would be enabled on the printer and on the software. I've included a screenshot showing the option on the printer settings and once that is turned on you should get an option every time you print to either do 2 sided printing or just one side. Your computer will always use the setting that was last used. The printer setting step applies to both Windows and Mac OSX.

Automatic (controlled by software)

You select one or two sided printing when initiating the print command.
