• It uses toner cartridges. If you buy the high yield toner it lasts twice.

• This uses the Brother Toner (part numbers) TN660 which is listed as a High Yield Toner (many copies); and, it can be obtained at full retail price of about $69.00; but, it goes on sale every now and then for around $46.00. There is another Brother Toner for this (not certain of the part number; but it might be TN636), a Low Yield (few copies); but, I would not recommend the Low Yield one because it costs much too much per print copy.
