“Can i use this printer with my samsung chromebook. there is no place to put a cd rom in and i see it says that i need to install the software via cd. also i noticed that with the cd rom it is only microsoft and IOS compatible.”

I'd suggest researching at the Brother website for the MFC-J985DW: http://www.brother-usa.com/support/modelinfo.aspx?R3ModelID=mfcj985dw If you don't find what you need there, they have Live Chat and Contact Customer Service options.
