• NO If you print black only the other in cartridges must have ink in them. When an ink cartridge is depleted it MUST be replaced. More information is available on Brothers web site.

• The Brother MFC-J995DW requires all 4 cartridges to print. When a color runs out, the machine will continue to print black and white for a short time, but you will need to replace the empty color cartridge.
