Marilyn, did your installer attach the black trim pieces in Step 11 of the installation instructions? The people BestBuy sent to install ours did not and I had to demand they return to complete the installation properly. Even then I had to do some of the work myself because the installer didn't know what he was doing. You really should not be having steam vent from the top during operation.

You may see water vapor (or steam) coming out of the vent near the door latch and/or appearing on surrounding surfaces such as the counter and door during the dishwasher operation. This vapor, although warm, is not dangerous and is normal. The vent will be visible either be on the upper left or right corner of the door. If there is not a visible vent on the outside of the door, it has a vent on the interior of the door (Hidden Vent/ActiVent). You should not see steam on these models. We hope this eases your worries.
