The upper oven with rack in low position only gives you a scant 4 inches of usable vertical space, fine for most bakeware. But if you want to use bakeware with lids, like Corning ware, they will hit the broiler element above. You can remove the roller rack from the embossed glides & place it on the oven floor to make more head room for bakeware with lids. Or use the lower oven's floor rack. These make about 6 inches of usable vertical space. I needed to use the upper oven as a warming drawer recently for a huge oven safe pasta bowl full of barbecued chicken wings for a party of eight. I removed the rack & rested the big bowl directly on the little oven's floor. Worked great. For the lower oven, my 12 quart stock pot with lid sits on the floor rack & clears the broiler element by about half an inch.

Lower Oven usable height (offset rack in place lowest position) = 10 1/2" (can accommodate a 22 lb. turkey). We hope this helps. Olga@Cafe
