“As with all "works with app" functionality, will Cafe continue to update the software, never considering it "obsolete" which would render some functionality unusable? I plan on keeping the range longer than 3 years.”

This model will continue to function with the SmartHQ app. The only products that are obsolete are the units that are listed on the support article on the GE Appliances website titled: "Obsolete Products."
