“What is the durability and scratch-resistance of the induction cooktop? Whenever I've seen electric cooktops in people's homes, they always have swirled scratch marks from both the pots and pans - as well as from the cleaning process. I'm a neat freak.”

After 6 months we have zero scratch or swirl marks. About a third of the time we use cast iron pans & the rest of the time it's really good stainless steel pots & pansl. Once we had to use Cerama Bryte & a sponge to get some gunk off of the cook top, but only once.

Our cooktops are made of a tough glass ceramic material that is made to withstand scratches with normal use. The glass ceramic cooktops are scratch resistant, yet not scratch proof so check the bottom of pans that you use for any rough spots. Small scratches will become less visible after cleaning, and some marks that only look like scratches can be removed altogether by cleaning. Porcelain Coated Cast Iron cookware is okay as long as the cookware is covered completely with porcelain enamel. Caution is recommended when using cast iron cookware that is not completely covered with smooth porcelain enamel, as it may scratch the glass ceramic cooktop. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.An induction cooktop is not an electric cooktop. Because the heat is in the pan, you won't get food burned onto the induction cooktop. I've had an induction cooktop since 2007 and mine is not stained or scratched. Thermador brand but it shouldn't make a difference.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We bought one of these about a month ago, so we can't give a long-term opinion. However, thus far we've been very pleased. The materials used on the top (glass and stainless steel) seem to be of very high quality, scratch-resistant and are easily cleaned with a wet rag. Nothing else. When I clean it, I don't see big streaks. It cleans up nicely. Beyond the high-quality materials, a big help comes from the nature of the induction top. Since the top itself doesn't get directly hot, food that spills over doesn't bake on. So, you don't need to put as much effort into cleaning the top. The neat freak in you will be happy. But, if you are persnickety about *any* scratches or marks you should probably stick to non-glass surfaces.
