- Answer I'm not sure about the software that comes along with the product, but you might consider using Paperwork (openpaper.work) which does use OCR and works well with this scanner.

QuestionI need a usb cable to connect the lide 220 to a standard laptop usb port. I believe I need a usb 2.0 cable, type A to mine 5-pin type B. I'm not sure about the mini 5-ping type B. How can I buy the part?

- Answer Yes. I have the scanner running on a Mac Book Pro with High Sierra. I also have a virtual machine running under Parallels with Windows 10, and the scanner works under the VM also.

QuestionHow do I sync my CanoScan D646U with my Surface Pro. The scanner came with an installation disk. Since the Surface Pro has no disk tray, how do I install the scanner. Is there a download available?

- Answer Try https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/scanners/support-scanners-canoscan-series/canoscan-d646u. There are no 64 bit drivers. Cannon says "There is no software for the OS Version you selected." when I chose Windows 10 (64 or 32 bit). This scanner, D646U, may no longer be supported by manufacturer. Contact Support 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) for an answer.
