Check directly with Cannon. I talked to them before purchasing my camera and they were very helpful. Some cameras sold in the USA are what is called "grey market". Same camera, but Cannon will not honor the warranty. They are intended to be sold in different countries. The warranty is covered by a third party. If you have ever had experience with this, it is a nightmare. Stay away. Your situation appears to be the reverse, so talk directly to the manufacturer.
