I recently purchased the Canon MF743CDW and am quite pleased with its performance. While it is located close to my router, I chose to utilize the WiFi feature rather than have another cable running between the devices. I used the WPS feature to connect the printer to my network and it worked like a charm. Now my family can print from anywhere in the house. However, if you choose to connect via an ethernet cable, you should still be able to print via WiFi from other devices that have chosen the printer as the default.
