“Will the Canon MF743Cdw work flawlessly on my home WiFi and iPhone air print? Does it print pdf documents from any pdf source. My HP M452dw did not. I know that no printers are truly flawless but I need something much more reliable than the HP.”

No. Sorry but it won’t. At least in my experience. The wifi keeps dropping off and you have to go manually restart the printer. It automatically shuts itself off and I cannot find any info to stop this from happening. I have found it very unreliable for wifi printing.
