• It has a 10sec timer. No, you can't use other batteries.

• Yes, it does have a timer. I'm sorry, I can't speak to your battery pack question without looking at the manual. If you go online to Canon's website you'll get an answer to your question for sure.

• It does have a programmable self-timer. I don't believe you can use non-rechargeable batteries.
