“New camera, inserted SD card and now the camera says unable to record on the memory card - what am I missing? Do you need a specific memory card? This card was used in another video camera once, but nothing was left on SD card now; does this matter?”

I had the same issue. So I tried with a different card and it worked. As you said when you use the card in different camera it changes a way of saving data on the card. If you want to use the card again format it while inserting card slot.

The SD card has to be formatted. Either on computer or the camcorder.
