“Do the universal cases work for the standard Fire 7" tablets and does the different universal cases have the openings for the ports?”

Yes, I bought different brands for the kids and all came with correct openings for power, etc.

Only fits the 2015 5th gen Amazon Fire. Doesn't fit the new 2017 version.
