Q: QuestionWill this work with a Sony digital clock model #HID-B70?
Asked by Alberto.
- A:Answer Hey, Alberto: Your Sony digital clock has a nomenclature plate somewhere on it (check the back or the bottom) or where the power supply power input socket is. Look for the voltage value, such as 12V and the current value such as 400mA. These are the two values you need to select the correct power supply, along with the power input DC plug shape Sony has selected for their model. The corresponding power supply you can then use must be of the same voltage, AND equal or greater current value. In my example I would look for a 12V and 400mA (4 tenths of one Amp) or greater power supply, AND with the correct DC output plug that matches the power input to your digital clock. -Tech1

Q: Questionwhat is the miliamp output?
Asked by Kenneth.
- A:Answer Hi, Kenneth: The milliamp output is the second most important of three things needed to replace a missing power supply to your equipment. Voltage is the first, and the power supply's output power plug shape is the third. The milliamp rating on the power supply determines if the power supply will be strong enough to run your equipment. So if the equipment you have needs 12v 400mA (or four tenths of one Amp) then look for a power supply that has 12V AND 400mA or greater mA, along with the matching output plug for the equipment you have. Please note there are different plug sizes and shapes that exists, so the plug at the end of the power supply is very important. Make sure the voltage matches. Do not attach a 5V piece of equipment to a 12V power supply as it will destroy your equipment. Follow these guidelines, and you will be ok. -Tech1

Q: QuestionCan yous use 5v on a 5.3v device?
Asked by bUGdeebOY.
- A:Answer Yes, and No. The current, or Amperage is just as important for your equipment to properly operate with your power supply. Examine the nomenclature plate on the equipment and look for mA or milliamps or Amps. It is usually listed next to the 5.3V stated on the equipment. It will not work if the power supply is too small for the demands of the equipment. For example if your equipment says 5.3V 1.5A then it requires a power supply that can deliver at least 1.5Amps or One thousand five hundred milliamps. 5V output on the power supply will probably be in the same ball park as the required 5.3V. But it has to be powerful enough to put out the required amperage too. -Tech1
