QuestionI don't know much about telescopes ..but what I've read about them will this be strong enough to see the planets?

- Answer Yes, the 114mm Newtonian Reflector Telescope is powerful enough to reveal Saturn's rings, Jupiter's cloud bands and four of its brightest moons, Venus' phases, and subtle features on Mars during a favorable opposition. QuestionWhat kind of batteries are needed and is there an alternate AC power option? I want to use this out in the country away from home and want to be sure it will work for a couple of hours.

- Answer 8 user supplied AA alkaline batteries are required, or you can use an external Celestron PowerTank Lithium battery.

- Answer Yes, you can certainly hold your smartphone directly up to the telescope's eyepiece to snap photos. It should work well for terrestrial and lunar targets.

- Answer No, the 114mm Newtonian Reflector Telescope does not come with a camera function, but camera and camera accessories are available separately.

- Answer The 114LCM gathers 265x the Light Gathering Power (Compared to human eye). The 25mm eyepiece will produce 40x magnification while the 9mm will produce 111x magnification.
