You start the left burner and then add the right side burner if needed.

Please try again later.I have a near identical to this model and I turn both on for even flame but only put one grate in the middle, so I always have a clean grate available for the next time without having to clean the other first - depends on how much you want to grill at a time obviously. This is an awesome grill with indirect heating, no more flareups! Very even heating, I love this grill over all the past grills I've had. A little small in size compared to others, but a small price to pay for consistent grilling results, and deal of day has this for one hundred seventy bucks, you can't go wrong. You will use it often.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You always ignite the left side first, but if you only wanted the right side on, you could turn it on after igniting the left and then turn the left off. They did not invest in 2 starters, just the one for the left burner.
