“When using the broil element a lot of smoke was produced. I cleaned the element and still there was smoke coming from inside. Has anyone experienced this and is there anything to be done besides returning? Thanks”

I followed the advice of other reviewers and set the oven outside and ran it for a couple of hours using the 450 degree temperature setting and various baking options (broil, bake, convection, etc.). It did smoke some and had a somewhat foul odor, which was the reason the reviewers recommended doing this. You may try doing this and see if it helps with the smoke issue. Also, try lowering the rack and temperature when you broil to see if that may also help with the smoke issue.
