No. This device is a ringer only. It will ring or beep louder than a normal phone for an incoming call. It does not access an actual call, meaning you cannot hear or speak to the caller via this device. Ringer volume, tone and ringer "pattern" are all adjustable on this device. It will make the ring really loud (95 db) on the loudest volume setting. Tone is a variable adjustment, making the ringer sound lower (more bass) or higher (more treble/sharper). This adjustment tweaks the sound for improved acuity relative to the hearing loss. Different ringer patterns also relate to the type of hearing loss, and one may be better heard than the others. It also has a flashing red light when there's an incoming call. Hope this helps!
